BIRDING FIELD DAY & CONCERT
Phil Specht is hosting a Birding Field Day on his farm on Pleasant Ridge Road, followed by a concert & potluck at the Driftless Area Wetlands Centre in Marquette. Specht’s farm will be open all day for birding & observing bees. A bee expert will be on-site at the farm at 12:30pm to provide instructions for photographing bumble bees and submitting observations on the Bumble Bee Watch website.
Sophia Landis will provide music entertainment at the Wetlands Centre starting at 3pm, followed by a potluck. Participants can then return to the field to continue observations. Field Day location is the field entrance east of 28004 Pleasant Ridge Rd between Marquette and Monona. The parking lot is marked on google maps.
Birders are encouraged to come and go from the gathering as they work on their bird species lists. This program is free to attend.
Directions to farm:
From Monona: Go east out of Monona on Pleasant Ridge Road (County Road B45) for 7.5 miles. Phil's farm is on the right.
From Marquette: Drive west on US Hwy 18 for approximately 0.5 miles. Turn right (north) on Pleasant Ridge Road (County Road B45) and drive 5 miles.
Driftless Area Wetlands Centre is located at 509 US 18, Marquette, Iowa
WETLANDS CENTRE SUMMER DAY CAMPS!! Activities will include science & nature art activities along with unstructured outdoor play and exploration. Activities will be tailored to the interests and age of students participating. Day Camp cost is $20/day (full-day camps). Registration is required. Enrollment is limited to 25 kids (first-come). Kids should bring a lunch, snacks, water bottle, sunscreen and insect repellent. Be sure to dress for the weather and wear closed-toe shoes. They can stay all day or be picked up any time at your convenience.

9:00am-3:30pm (kids can come as early as 8am and stay until 4:30pm) $20/day
June 12 & 13 - Toads & Turtles Galore Camp (2-day camp)
June 27 - Wetland Critters (1-day Camp)
July 17 & 18 - Aquatic Adventures Camp (2-day Camp)
