Position Description
Title: Education Naturalist & Land Management Intern (Seasonal, Part-time)
Hours: 10-25 hours per week
Location: Driftless Area Wetlands Centre, City of Marquette, IA

Responsibilities: Intern will assist with the development, organization, and presentation of environmental education programs for the general public, civic and conservation groups, youth groups and schools. Plan, assist, and lead activities for summer day camps for youth at the Wetlands Centre. Care and maintenance of materials and equipment used for programs. Open and staff Driftless Area Wetlands Centre on a shared weekend basis with other staff. Care for captive animals at the DAWC. Assist with land management of prairie and wetland habitat surrounding the Wetlands Centre, including but not limited to invasive species control, seed collection, and prairie planting. Assist with general cleaning and upkeep of the facility and grounds. Perform other duties as directed by the DAWC Director.
Requirements. Must be at least 16 years of age. Beginning knowledge of environmental themes and issues, outdoor skills, recreation programs, basic ecology, field identification and natural history. Ability to work with K-12 students and the general public. Ability to work outside in a variety of weather and terrain conditions. Intern must be professional, courteous, respectful, dependable and trustworthy. Valid driver’s license.
Work Schedule/Dates: This is a part-time, seasonal position under the general supervision of the DAWC Director. The intern will work approximately 10-25 hours per week from the end of May – August 2024. Start and end dates are flexible. Weekend hours are required.
